Viagra has been shown to work safely and effectively in men of all ages, even those who have other health issues such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and depression. Viagra is sold in doses of 25mg to 100mg, taken only once per day prior to intercourse. It is normally recommended to begin with a dosage of 50mg (or even 25mg), and lower or raise the dosage as appropriate.
How does Viagra work? :
Viagra works by releasing a muscle relaxation chemical into the penis, resulting in increased blood flow and an erection. Depending on how the drug works for an individual, it should be taken about 1 hour prior to sexual activity. After ingestion, the pill remains active for 4 hours, after which the effect wears off.
However, Viagra is not an aphrodisiac, that is, it does not affect the brain and make someone want to have sex. It only causes erections during sexual excitement, and will not work in the absence of arousal. Therefore, the drug is not prescribed for individuals who have low sex drive or any other desire disorder.
Viagra and Erections
Research has shown that some men who use Viagra at night may experience up to three or four erections per night. However, Viagra is not designed to allow or not allow multiple erections, nor does it guarantee that a man will have them. Multiple erections are more likely to be experienced by Viagra users who were able to attain the same prior to getting erectile dysfunction.
